Many drivers are unaware of their responsibilities when they hit another vehicle or object while driving. Driving off may lead to substantial criminal and civil penalties. In many instances, you will also be financially responsible for the repair of any damaged objects.

If you are involved in an accident resulting in injury or death, you must immediately stop your vehicle at the scene of the accident, or as close to the scene as possible, and remain at the scene of the accident until you have fulfilled any requirements required by the law enforcement officers who arrive on the scene.
